Purpose-built chainsaw slabber – high-value slab milling in record time.
Peterson’s DWS (Dedicated Wide Slabber) Portable Sawmill uses a chainsaw slabber style bar in a strong, accurate frame to produce fast, flat live edge slabs.
It allows a much faster speed ratio than other slabbers, using a .404 ripping chain, or a multi-skip tooth chain. Until proven otherwise, the DWS can comfortably claim the title of fastest portable slabbing machine in the world.
It is consequently easier to push, faster at cutting, uses less fuel, is less likely to burn your bar, and has a longer chain life – making it more efficient in every regard.
“If you already have a large frame Peterson Sawmill like the WPF or ASM and are wanting to produce slabs commercially, the DWS chainsaw slabber unit operates in the same tracks and frame style so you can add it to an existing set-up or purchase together so that you can quickly change from dimensional sawing, to slabbing and back on the same log.”

Until proven otherwise, the DWS can comfortably claim the title of fastest portable slabbing machine in the world. Capable of producing flat, consistent slabs at a rate of 6-30 slabs per hour; dependent on tree species and chain set-up.
Because Petersons custom-build each and every sawmill, you have the option at the time of purchase to upgrade your frame to a Giant Frame which allows you to cut even larger diameter logs up to 6.5ft (2m) or more!
The DWS can be upgraded to an automated slabbing machine when built in the ASM track set-up. Upgrading to automation with the DWS is the most efficient way of getting accurate, valuable slabs with minimal effort.
Manufactured using high-quality, hand-polished stainless steel and aluminium, providing a virtually rust-free sawmill. Using stronger, lighter materials also means the mills are robust in performance, and most importantly – have long-term durability in even the harshest conditions.
Utilising a custom extrusion, the standard Lo/Lo ground-based tracks offered with the DWS allow you to cut logs up to 6m in length with the option to upgrade to a Hi/Lo set-up for increased versatility or extend your tracks at any time to increase production, while maintaining portability.
